New “Candyman” Film in the Works Helmed by Jordan Peele

November 28, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

A remake to the classic 1992 film “Candyman” starring Tony Todd is set to drop in 2020! New comer to the horror genre Jordan Peele’s (Director of “Get Out”) company Monkeypaw Productions is backing the film. However it will be directed Nia DaCosta.  This classic slasher film originally directed by Bernard Rose was a staple of my childhood. As a kid born in the 80’s and raised in the 90’s I can tell you that we ALL did the Candyman mirror dare and were ALL terrified of the bloody meat hook coming from his stump of a arm. As of right now the only details that are known of the plot is that it will take place back in Cabrini Green projects, which is the same location of the first film.

You can expect to get your first glimpse of the film in theaters June 12, 2020. Finally for those that may not know, the original telling of this sadistic tale came from the mad mind of Clive Barker. Clive had penned this story under the original name “The Forbidden”. The short story was later adapted for film and changed into what we know now today as “Candyman”.

An official “Child’s Play” Remake Website Gives Details on the “Buddi” Doll

November 26, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

As many of you may have seen over the past couple months, MGM and Orion are working on a new remake for the “Child’s Play” franchise. One of the most notable changes that has been seen thus far is the new doll that is being used in place of the traditional “Good Guy” doll. One of those changes is that he will no longer be called a “Good Guy” doll, instead he will now be called “Buddi”. However, that is not to be confused with his actual name, which is still going to be Chucky, thank god! Another change that comes with less excitement behind it is the fact that this will will not feature the voice of Chucky, Brad Dourif who voiced the miniature maniac in all previous installments of the film including the most recent addition in the franchise “Cult of Chucky”.

The website for the Buddi doll is www.BestBuddi.com. The website details some of the upgrades that the Buddi doll will have that lacked in the classic “Good Guy” doll. One of them is a speech recognition software that allows the doll to recognize two languages (English and Spanish). Additionally, the doll features 20 cameras within it’s inner workings. This allows the Buddi dolls to be more well verses in their surrounding areas and environments. The film is set to release on June 21, 2019. Are you excited about this new remake? And what are your thoughts on the new look of the doll? Sound off below and let us know!

‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Filming is Finally Complete & Should Be Arriving Summer 2019!

November 24, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Streaming

Just like every other Stranger Things fan in the entire world, we’ve all been waiting for this moment. Especially after having the release pushed from 2018 to 2019. But we get it, they wanted it to be perfect. Unfortunately for us, we still have to wait for the production team to do their thing, which should, reportedly, take up to 6 months, which pushes for a release as summer begins.

As the cast wraps up filming, it got pretty emotional for some. Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp shared similar images of the two that said, “One Last Time..” on their personal Instagram accounts as they caption it “that’s a wrap”. Millie Bobby Brown had also shared some of her emotion with her fans via Snapchat. She posted 2 photos on the final day of shooting, one before and one after.

But don’t worry, this doesn’t mean the end of Stranger Things just yet. Co-Creators, the Duffer brothers, have already confirmed a 4th season and producer, Shawn Levy, has already teased for a possible 5th season.

To our knowledge, Season 3 will be diving more into Eleven’s “coming to age” story. We’ll also be exploring more of the Upside Down, but they say to NOT expect any real answers. Ross Duffer says, “There’s no way the kids can ever truly fully understand this place. We have our Upside Down document which describes its rules and its mythology in quite a bit of detail, but I think we’re just going to slowly parse that out, and maybe not even fully use all of it.” David Harbour has hinted that we’ll be exploring his character, Jim Hopper’s backstory as well, along with the story of his daughter, Sara.

It has been confirmed that this season will be 8 episodes. “The number of episodes will be dictated by the amount of story that excites us. We now know what is going to happen in season three to every character,” says Levy. Ross Duffer has promised, “Aesthetically, the new season is going to feel very different. Everyone is going to this new mall, seeing movies, and, of course, the Hawkins pool is open for business. I think there’ll be a sense of fun and joy.”

As for the cast, the original gang will be returning.

We will also be welcoming back Priah Ferguson (Lucas’ little sister, Erica), and welcoming new faces, Maya Thurman-Hawke (as Robin),

Cary Elwes and Jake Busey,

and Franchesca Reale (as Heather).

Eleven’s long lost sister, Kali (Linnea Berthelsen a.k.a. 008), will be returning as well.

Wild Eye Releasing Obtains Documentary Based on “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” Coming 2019!

November 23, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Over the last year we have been anticipating the release of the upcoming film adaptation of the ever popular children’s book series “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”. Most of us horror hounds grew up reading these fantastically written scary tales crafted and paired perfectly with the most gruesome and eerie imagery that could be produced. This made for a book that was almost ALWAYS not in at the library and one that was sought after by all kids who grew up appreciating the genre. Fast forward a few decades later and we are getting a double dose of awesomeness! Guillermo Del Toro will be helming the adaption of the books.

However in addition to that we will also be getting a documentary to go along with it! Wild Eye Releasing will be bringing the documentary to fruition sometime in 2019. The documentary will feature 40+ interviews from various authors, artists and fans alike. Finally, the director of the upcoming documentary aptly titled “Scary Stories” is Cody Meirick, who according to IMDB will be making his directorial debut with this release.

One thing I think I can safely say is that 2019 is shaping up to be a KICK-ASS year for horror. These additions to the new year are making me count the days just a LITTLE bit faster! If you are as amped about this news as I am sound off in the comments with your thoughts/opinions on this!

More Development Details For ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3!

May 21, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Streaming

First off, ‘Stranger Things’ will be heading back to the summer of ’85 for Season 3, supposedly one year after the events in Season 2, according to executive producer, Shawn Levy. And, obviously, the awesome original cast will be returning as well. This includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, and more.

But along with the faces we know, there will also be some new cast members including Maya Thurman-Hawke and Priah Ferguson.

Over this past weekend at Netflix’s FYSee event, Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown gave some teasers about Season 3.

Noah decided to set the tone for everyone.

“Season 1, I feel like, was more playful. Season 2 was a lot darker. And then Season 3 does really well blending them together, and that’s what I love about it,”

While Millie said this about Eleven’s role,

“It’s a beautiful storyline for Eleven this season. It’s really a coming of age for her and understanding what being a normal teenage girl is.”

As fans question the release of season 3, according to David Harbour, “If you use logic, the 1st season came out July 15, the 2nd came out October 27, so we could expect to see season 3 in January or February 2019…. But we can’t be certain,”

According to Levy, as for the young loves, “Mike and Eleven are still going strong, same for Max and Lucas. But they’re still only 13, 14 years old, which means things will be getting difficult for them, especially at this age.”

Levy also says to expect more Steve, but most importantly, DAD Steve.

Last but not least, GET READY FOR ERICA!! The Roast Queen is back with an “army” of friends who’ll help her on a mission to save Hawkins. Maya Thurman’s character, Robin, is an “alternative girl who seeks excitement and is bored with her day job, which leads to more than what she bargained for when she uncovers the secrets of Hawkins” according to Variety.

Stay tuned for more details as they develop….

BEARACUDA HITS INDIEGOGO!!!!

May 20, 2018 by Wayne Wright
Breaking News

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/bearacuda-horror#/

Short Summary

Bearacuda is the first short of many planned from Vulgar Films.  Vulgar Films was founded in 2016 by Horror Society’s Mac Brewer and former Bloody Banter & Bazaar reviewer Ryan Musick with the goal in mind to create low budget films that they both love so much.  Sadly, life had got away from the two but they are back and ready to tackle their first film.

Mac is an avid horror fan but appreciates other genres and that shows with Bearacuda.  With this short Mac wants to tackle the bigfoot films of the 70s while paying tribute to the early works of Chris Seaver, Troma, and Rock Bottom Video.   The film will be full of humor, horribly written dialogue, and could deemed offensive if you are lame.

So far Brandy Mason has been cast in the film and the movie will feature music from Matt Mullins & the Bringdowns and Foz Rotten & His Dirty Scoundrels.  Props, wardrobe and effects will be handled by Chris Sizemore.

What We Need & What You Get

Our goal is to raise $2000 dollars.  The film needs several props and effects for the creature with a special custom mask from DWN Productions.  Money will also go into the perks themselves such as DVD/Blu printing, as well as, production equipment that we are lacking.

The physical copies being offered in this crowd funding campaign will never be available again. There will be an additional 30 copies (15 DVD and 15 blu) that will be made for cast and crew with the remainder to be sold at the premier.  Once they are gone they are truly gone.

If, big IF, the campaign raises more than the 2K we need for the short the extra funds will go into one of the other shorts and features planned from Vulgar Films such as Fart Harvesters, Fatbacks of West Virginia, and The Elder Boogers.

Other Ways You Can Help

We get it.  Sometimes you can’t contribute to a campaign such as this.  Honestly, I would be hesitant as well especially considering the price of the DVDs and blu for a short.  I’ve been there before and had to debate if I should pull the trigger or not.  If you don’t want to or you can’t contribute to our crowdfunding campaign you can still help by sharing the link.  Hit up social media and share it around for us.  The exposure helps!

GRIZZLED! Help Escort The Waddling Menace To The Big Screen!

May 12, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

A Giant mutant penguin. Have I got your attention yet? Author and film maker Rycke Foreman is currently working to fund a brilliant independent project titled “GRIZZLED!” reminiscent of the spoofs we seen in the 1980’s, combine this with a “Jaws” type story and you get a kick ass blend of cinema! The film is set to have some awesome names attached to the project including Bill Oberst Jr. (3 From Hell, Death House, Rogue, Etc.), Shawn C. Phillips and Jamie Bernadette among several others. GRIZZLED! is looking to be quite the fun project and Horror Headquarters and myself specifically will be helping back this project as it is something that has heart and soul behind it. On top of that it is a VERY film concept that I would love to see brought to the big screen.

The basic films synopsis goes something like this:

“A few years after a genetically modified penguin escapes its laboratory, it grows to be twenty-ish feet tall and begins stalking the forest outside of a small tourist town. Chief Forest Ranger Roy George stumbles through life and lacks follow through. After he’s assigned to find the President’s missing daughter, and as one of the few who (eventually) takes the fowl new threat seriously, he vows to change his ways and deal with both situations. He faces resistance by the bureaucratic park supervisor. However, when the penguin attacks during a 4th of July picnic festival, the park super is forced to accept the problem. He responds by hiring a grizzled hunter with a specialized RV designed for hunting, sending him with Roy and two other rangers into the woods. They have two objectives: to kill the bird and find the President’s missing daughter. Fortunately, the order of execution doesn’t matter, because they find the girl first. Unfortunately, the penguin finds them moments later, and it does the executing. The plan devolves into a game of cat and mouse, or penguin and humans, in this case. After a disastrous meet-up in which lives and the RV are lost, Roy digs deep and resolves to follow through with his plan of retreat. If Roy can stick to his guns—even though they don’t work—he just might accomplish something. Or it might take dumb luck to save them all…“

The film still needs some financial support to be lifted off the ground. However, with the cast lined up and having Rycke helming the film itself. I have no doubt in my mind an independent classic can be crafted. So your probably wondering, “Well, hey, how can I get involved in this thing?”. I am glad you asked! Below you will find a link to the GRIZZLED! Kickstarter campaign. No donation is too big or too small and you can even get involved with production credits based on your funding level! Even if you decide to go for a smaller tiered perk you will still be helping create a wonderful film and take part in the process along side us as we see the big penguin waddle his way to the screen!

Director, Andy Muschetti, Says to “Bring Your Adult Diapers” For ‘It: Chapter 2’!

April 25, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

It (2017) director, Andy Muschetti, tells fans at CinemaCon (in a taped interview) to bring your adult diapers for ‘It: Chapter 2’ will be much darker and scarier. There’s talks about the sequel going into depths about the life of Pennywise, including his history with Derry. Muschetti says that he is very excited to make viewers crap themselves. He is to start filming in Toronto, Canada in July, with Gary Dauberman writing the script.

As for the cast, Beverly Marsh will be played by Jessica Chastain,

Bill Hader is rumored to play Richie Tozier,

and Bill Denbrough will likely be played by James McAvoy.

Image result for it chapter 2 james mcavoy as bill denbrough

Of course, Bill Skarsgard will be returning as the famous Pennywise

and the children from the first film will be returning to revise their roles in the flashbacks. That includes Jaeden Lieberher (Bill Denbrough), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben Hanscrom), Sophia Lillis (Beverly Marsh), Finn Wolfhard (Richie Tozier), Wyatt Oleff (Stanley Uris), Chosen Jacobs (Mike Hanlon), Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie Kaspbrak) and Nicholas Hamilton (Henry Bowers).

Once again, this film will be taking place 27 years after the last installment and includes flashbacks to the 80’s. This time, the Losers’ Club is to take on Pennywise as adults. There’s also talks about a harsh deleted scene that may be included showing Pennywise devouring a baby. Skarsgard is also excited about learning Pennywise’s twisted history.

I’m hella psyched for this!! Be on the lookout, this sequel is set to release on September 6, 2019.

The One and Only R. Lee Ermey Has Passed Away

April 16, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Yesterday the word came out that the legendary actor had passed away at the age of 74. His manger Bill Rogin broke the sad news and released a coinciding statement to go with the devastating news, stating: “He will be greatly missed by all of us. It is a terrible loss that nobody was prepared for. He has meant so much to so many people. And, it is extremely difficult to truly quantify all of the great things this man has selflessly done for, and on behalf of, our many men and women in uniform. He has also contributed many iconic and indelible characters on film that will live on forever. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman of Full Metal Jacket fame was a hard and principled man. The real R. Lee Ermey was a family man, and a kind and gentle soul. He was generous to everyone around him. And, he especially cared deeply for others in need”.

R. Lee Ermey was mostly known for his role as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in the classic Stanley Kubrick masterpiece “Full Metal Jacket“. Over the years we would see many more notable performances from Ermey in the forms of: “The Frighteners“, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003) and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning“. Typically playing the role of a brutish and very outspoken individual. This is what we all came to know and love from the legendary actor who even in real  life was a one time former Marine who served against Vietnam.

Additionally he had appeared in other various roles outside of the horror community such as voice acting in the “Toy Story” trilogy. The man will leave behind a set of boots that will likely never be able to be filled again. He was a unique actor who brought a militant background and carefully crafted skill set to the films he was in. Horror Headquarters and myself wish to extend our condolences to his family and friends. Let us keep his memory alive and share your favorite films from him below in the comments!

Sneak Peek Into Stranger Things Season 3!

April 2, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Streaming

With the many questions from fans about the third season of Stranger Things, we finally get some answers.

Season 3 of this amazing creation was confirmed back in December 2017 by Netflix, but there is still no word on a release date. David Harbour (Stranger Things, Police Chief Jim Hopper) says, “Fans probably won’t get Season 3 until sometime in 2019 because the Duffer Brothers need time to write it. I mean, those guys work so hard. They sit in their apartment and write for 12-14 hours a day”.

Fans have been wondering about the episode count for this season. It was revealed by Executive Producer, Shawn Levy, to be an 8 or 9 episode season. He says, “The number of episodes will be dictated by the amount of story that excites us. We now know what is going to happen in season three to every character.” And it was later confirmed by TV Line that there is to be 8 episodes. According to Shawn Levy, as for the setting of this season, it is to be set where Season 2 left off, so, during the summer of ’85. The Duffer Brothers also suggests that puberty will also be making an appearance in the young teens lives.

They told Entertainment Weekly, “Even if we didn’t want to deal with puberty, we have to deal with it because our real-life actors are going through it. I think that’s exciting because it forces the show to evolve and become something different every year. It’s going to test their friendships. Obviously, like Lucas and Max are together, but really, when you’re that age, how long do relationships last? They usually last about two weeks if you’re lucky. I think that’s going to be fun to explore.”

*And as for “Mileven”, Mike and Eleven are still together!*

*Maybe Joyce and Jim will be having a little romance of their own.*

A lot of fans have also been wondering about the season count for Stranger Things. According to the Duffer Brothers, they’re “thinking that this will be a 4-season thing and then out.” But nobody knows for sure. I sure hope it isn’t just 4 seasons. I’ll be a little butthurt if so.

Word’s going around about a spin-off series focusing on Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) a.k.a Eight from Season 2, Episode 7, ‘The Lost Sister’. But she doesn’t want to take the spotlight off of the rest of the gang. She loves them way too much and thinks it’d be more fun to see more of them. Unfortunately, Linnea doesn’t know whether she’ll be returning for Season 3 but says she would love to. The Duffer Brothers seem a bit eager about her return, so, maybe we will be seeing her after all.

The Duffers Brothers also remind us that we’ll be seeing Lucas’ little sister, Erica (Priah Ferguson), a lot more this season. They said she wasn’t even supposed to be in season 2 as much as she was, but they just fell in love with her.

In conclusion, Season 3 was suggested to start filming in March or April, but there was no confirmation on that. It was later confirmed by TV Line that filming was to begin in April. It’s also rumored to be heavily influenced by Stephen King. But who knows? We’ll keep you updated.

“IT” Spin-off Film “Pennywise” Planned For 2022 Release!

April 1, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

With fans flocking in droves to see the 2017 smash “IT” movie studios have been in a race to pump out material related to the film. That being said a spin-off film of the franchise is rumored to be in the works. The film is said to have the working title of “Pennywise” and will feature a backstory highlighting the creation of Pennywise along with the backstory of the inhabiting creature as well. Tim Curry is rumored to be involved as a cameo appearance and director Andrew Muschietti will return to helm the film as director. Muscietti previously directed the “IT” remake and is working on chapter 2 of “IT” as well.

The 2017 film was unparalleled in sales, success and buzz in literally all horror film history. This is exactly why I chose this particular film to make a bullshit ass story about. BUT you read this shit, so thank you. I would love to see this as an actual legit film, but nah. I seriously just decided to use the most successful horror film of all time as click bait for an April Fool’s Day story. But, hey thanks for believing this shit. Happy April Fool’s Day!

We Revisit Cult Classics With Kelli Maroney (Interview)

March 31, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Interviews

I grew up in an era where “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” was shown late night on stations like TNT and TBS back in the early 90’s. Typically it would be double billed with a horror film of the era that would help bring a wonderful vibe and perfect mix of horror and comedy. These nights were relics of my childhood. I remember staying up late to watch the riotous film as a kid. Now, fast forward a couple decades and I am getting the opportunity to interview one of the stars of a childhood gem of mine! Not to mention the other numerous roles she has been in. Kelli Maroney has established herself as not just a great genre actress, but a great actress in general and a sweetheart of a human being! I had the honor to sit down with her this week for an interview. You can read our full discussion down below!

Horror Headquarters: First, let me thank you for your time and opportunity to interview the woman behind several horror classics such as: “Night of The Comet”, “Chopping Mall”, “Not of This World”, “Slayground” and many others! You also were a lead role in the cult classic “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. Horror Headquarters as a whole and myself especially appreciate the chance to talk horror with you!

Kelli Maroney: Thank you, the pleasure is all mine. I love talking horror! Thanks for asking me.

Horror Headquarters: So, your first major film role was Cindy in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. This is considered by many including myself as a staple and classic of 80’s cinema. It demonstrated the teen lifestyle of the time very well. What was your experience like on the set with it being your first major outing?

Kelli Maroney: Well, it was certainly my first trip to Hollywood, CA. I’d been reading all the biographies of the movie stars and others in the industry all my life. So it was a dream come true to see everything with my own two eyes, watching the Universal lot come to life in the morning, with everyone coming to work and “taking their places.” Every single person on that set and everyone working on the film was fully committed, professional, and, of course, uber talented. I couldn’t have asked for a better intro to Los Angeles.

Horror Headquarters: A year after “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” you were in a film called “Slayground” with a more sinister vibe and darker feel for sure. How difficult was it to switch gears from a comedy to something with a much darker atmosphere?

Kelli Maroney:Slayground was the first film role I shot, but the movie was released after Fast Times. I was so into auditioning for a psychotic killer! I really went for it. I was already playing an evil Lolita on the soap I was in, Ryan’s Hope, so I didn’t think of it as switching gears at all, just amplified!

Horror Headquarters: Just one year after that, you appeared in “Night of The Comet” a sci-fi/horror/comedy that brings an empowering look at females as the lone survivors of the comet crash, battling against zombies and scientists. How did you approach creating the mindset of Samantha Belmont?

Kelli Maroney: Thom Eberhardt, the writer/director, showed me the film, My Man Godfrey He didn’t want me to copy Carole Lombard–just get a feel for the tempo and qualities he was thinking would work best for Sam. From there, after I had that as a base, it wasn’t really that big of a stretch for me to imagine what it would feel like if everyone was gone, your life was over before it started, none of your dreams were going to come true, and your whole existence revolved around your trying not to get eaten by “freaked out zombies.”

Horror Headquarters: In 1986 you took part in the classic and unique sci-fi horror classic directed by Jim Wynorski, “Chopping Mall”. How functional were the robots from the film? And were there any malfunctions on set with the robots?

Kelli Maroney: The killbots had various degrees of function. There was that great “arm” on one, another one had a remote control, and I think only one of their heads spun around. There weren’t three complete killbots. Other than the remote control being unpredictable, I remember them as working well. It was the humans job to make the scenes work, not the killbots. Robert Short had already done many miraculous special effects–the mermaid fish tail in Splash was his creation, too—so, we were in great hands! Then with their voice-overs, the music, and some cool photography, killbots really came to life.

Horror Headquarters: Two years later in 1988 you were in another Jim Wynorski film called “Not of This Earth”. Did you find it easier to work on this film as you already had the sci-fi and horror experience as well as already having had worked with Jim previously? Or was there a new set of challenges you had to tackle when taking this role?

Kelli Maroney: Well, Not of this Earth came about because I got a call one afternoon from Jim. He asked if I was free the next day because he had an idea. He thought it would be funny to put me in some scenes in an identical nurse uniform as Traci was wearing. I said, “Great, why not? I’ll have a fun day on the set and make my rent this month!” I wish I had a deeper story than that, because I do appreciate this question a lot, but I’m sorry to say there was almost no thought put into it other than “Let’s shoot this!”

Horror Headquarters: Moving forward with your career, what is a role you would love to play that would be YOUR ideal/dream role?

Kelli Maroney: I’m so happy that the badass women are back in the movies. I’d like to play the types of roles they were writing when I started out as the mature women version of those characters. I knew I was lucky to be getting all these amazing roles at the time, but I didn’t really understand back then how rare it was that they even existed.

Horror Headquarters: Looking back on your illustrious career, what film do you personally hold closest to heart? I know thats like asking who is your favorite child, haha, BUT if you HAD to choose, which one is the most important to YOU?

Kelli Maroney: Night of the Comet, because it seems to resonate in a deeper way with the fans I’ve had the honor of speaking with about it. People have their own stories from their personal lives that they share with me, how it wove into their lives at a particular time and why it was memorable for them, That’s the whole point of movies and acting for me–to make that connection with other humans. That’s not to say that I don’t have similar experiences talking with people about the other roles I’ve been fortunate enough to have played, because I do, and I cherish them, too, but you made me pick ONE! To call back to the ‘favorite child” comparison at the beginning of this question, it’s not really possible.

Horror Headquarters: Can we look forward to seeing you at any horror conventions in 2018 or 2019?

Kelli Maroney: Thanks for asking! So far this year I know I’ll be at Crypticon Seattle May 4th and 5th, and Scares That Care in August. In the Fall I have a film coming out, “Exorcism at 60,000 Feet,” which I hope people will find extremely entertaining, and quite a few icons of our horror genre make appearances in it as well. My appearances and current news can always be found on my website, http://www.kellimaroney.com in What’s New? and my blog, my Facebook page, http://www/kellimaroneyofficial, Twitter, http://twitter.com/kellimaroney and Instagram http://www.instagram.com/kellimaroney.

Horror Headquarters: I want to thank you once again for allowing me to have a conversation and discussion with you on a genre we both love and adore. I appreciate your time and we look forward to following along with anything new you decide to pursue.

Kelli Maroney: Thank you, Klive! I appreciate your time as well, and will be on the lookout for all news from Horror Headquarters, too!

Returning To “The Burning” With Shelley Bruce (Interview)

March 23, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News, Interviews

Recently, we sat down with Shelley Bruce who played the role of “Tiger” in the cult classic slasher “The Burning” in 1981. This film ranks among my personal favorite slashers of all time. Wonderfully pieced together with amazing kills at the hands of the killer “Cropsy”, a great score by the incredible Rick Wakeman and stunning practical effects from the legendary Tom Savini. This film shaped up to be one that stood the test of time and still has an amazing following of fans, me being one of them haha. Shelley is as polite and kindhearted as you could imagine. Below you will find our full interview together as we return to “The burning”! From 2018 back to 1981. HERE WE GO!

Horror Headquarters: First, let me thank you for your time and opportunity to interview one of the women behind one of the greatest slasher films ever. You survived the wrath of the villainous “Cropsy” in “The Burning” and lived to tell the tale! Horror Headquarters as a whole and myself especially appreciate the chance to talk horror with you!

Horror Headquarters: You played Tiger in the classic 1981 slasher “The Burning”, what was your experience like working on set? And do you have any fond memories or moments that stick out during filming?

Shelley Bruce: Working on The Burning was a great experience. Our cast was a mix across ages and the other actors were really a lot of fun and very easy to work with. The canoe trip scene and the dining hall scene were particularly memorable. If I remember correctly, sinking a canoe was not in the script, simply a result of all the tom foolery going on among us! The scene in the dining hall was truly out of control. I remember all I could is giggle uncontrollably, one of those once you start laughing you can’t stop moments that they brilliantly caught on film.

Horror Headquarters: What was the process that you went through to get involved in this film? And how did the opportunity arise?

Shelley Bruce: The Burning was really just a routine audition that my agent sent me on. Nothing to remarkable about it at the time.

Horror Headquarters: Were you able to see Cropsy (Lou David) in full makeup before they filmed or was it a surprise when he came on set?

Shelley Bruce: I actually never met Lou until we did the Bay of Blood horror weekend in Tampa back in 2016.

Horror Headquarters: The legendary Tom Savini provided the special effects for this film, what was it like being on set with the master of macabre in his earlier years? And what was it like to experience his work first hand?

Shelley Bruce: Tom was so wonderful to work with. He was so generous in giving us access to him while working. I remember seeing all the medical books regarding burn victims and watched as he poured over the details working to get everything as accurate as possible. It was also really fun to see Betsy Palmer’s head from Friday the 13th. WE would play basketball with it lol.

Horror Headquarters: Some actors and actresses claim it is like a badge of honor to be killed off in a film by the villain. Were you let down you didn’t get Cropsy’s wrath? Or were you glad to be in the surviving group?

Shelley Bruce: The funny thing about that is, I guess I never really read the script well. I didn’t realize how close I came to death until one of the screenings.

Horror Headquarters: This film is considered by many, myself included, to be one of the greatest slashers ever. Were you as disappointed as fans that there was never a sequel? And would you of come back had the chance arose?

Shelley Bruce: We were actually just talking about that at Chiller. I would love to see a sequel and would “die” to be a part of it! Maybe Alfred goes crazy and takes on the persona of Cropsy 😉

Horror Headquarters: Did you find it hard to make yourself upset for the distress scenes? Particularly after the attacks of Cropsy near the tail end of the film. How difficult was it to get in that mindset?

Shelley Bruce: It really wasn’t difficult to tap into the sadness and horror of the storyline. It was hot and we were tired, so I just tapped into that.

Horror Headquarters: During the filming of the movie, what do you recall as being the biggest issue on set, if any at all?

Shelley Bruce: There really wasn’t much drama on the set. Everyone got along well. If anything I would say any stress came from budget issues since it was the Weinstein brothers first movie and they really didn’t have enough money.

Horror Headquarters: After “The Burning”, it seems that you ended your career as an actress, what was it that pulled you away from film? And what did you personally pursue after you put the breaks on the acting?

Shelley Bruce: I actually didn’t end my career after The Burning. We filmed in the summer of 1980 and I did some appearances and local appearances following that. I took a break from acting the following fall when I was diagnosed with Leukemia. By mid 1982 I was involved in an off Broadway cabaret show and then did The Wizard of Oz at Valley Forge and Westbury Music Fair. In late 1983 I face some medical issues surrounding my leukemia and took a few month off again. Early 1984 I switched gears and turned my focus to my one forever loves, music. I started working with a local band playing club dates and over the course of the next 9 years continued singing with bands. I didn’t really step away until somewhere around 1994. By then the band I was with was starting to disband and I was getting busy with my son who was around 4.

Horror Headquarters: I want to thank you once again for allowing me to have a conversation and discussion with you on a genre we both love and adore. I appreciate your time and we look forward to following along with anything new you decide to pursue.

Prepare To Be Re-Animated!

Breaking News, DVD / Blu Ray Release

We’re happy to announce that Umbrella Entertainment has happily announced that they will be releasing ALL 3 Re-Animator films on Blu-ray, and this is a first ever for Beyond Re-Animator! Coming this June, these films will be released as a part of a 2-disc Collectors Edition, which also includes the theatrical and integral versions, along with a ton of special features.

I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of excited for this. I just recently watched all of these films with James not that long ago. I think the concept of reanimation is awesome, just because I know that with the correct sources, scientists will eventually find a way to bring reanimation to the real world if they haven’t already.

In fact, the Re-Animator trilogy was the topic for our VERY FIRST episode of Horror Headquarters. You can actually check that out right here on the website by going to the Podcast tab. It’s the first video, let us know what you think. Be sure to check out our other podcasts while you’re here. Make sure you keep your eye out for this awesome release. We sure will.

Dee Wallace Joins The Cast For Upcoming Rob Zombie Film “3 From Hell”

March 20, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Rob Zombie announced a few hours ago a new addition to the casting of his upcoming project “3 From Hell“, which is a follow up to 2005’s “The Devil’s Rejects“. We covered the announcement of the actual film itself no more than a week ago. Today, we are happy to say that Dee Wallace has been officially added to the cast for the film. No clue on the role she will play yet as no announcement has been made. However, as always we will update this story as more information is made public.

Dee is most notably known for her work in the Spielberg classic “E.T.“. However, she has also appeared in many other cult classic and horror films in the past such as: Cujo, Critters, The Lords of Salem, The Frighteners, Popcorn, The Howling, The Hills Have Eyes, Halloween (2007) and The Stepford Wives (1975). Dee has been and always will be a staple of the horror community. It is nice to see her still landing roles in MAJOR productions and getting a chance to continue to bless us with great performances.

This will be the 3rd outing with Rob Zombie that Dee has had. Previously she worked on The Lords of Salem and Halloween with Rob. This time she gets to delve into his beloved sinister backwoods family franchise that is House/Rejects/Hell. We are super stoked personally to hear of this news as my girlfriend and I are both big fans of Ms. Wallace. What are your thoughts on bringing the legendary actress on board for the new RZ film? Are you excited? Let us know in the comments below!

The Director of Madison County, Josie and Contracted Accused of Sexual Assault

March 19, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

The big buzz in Hollywood over the last year or so seems to be one of sadness and disheartening revelations about stars, directors and producers that many fans have enjoyed for several years, only to be ousted later as total scumbags. This has been seen in cases with most notably: Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K. and Kevin Spacey. However, there have been several others named as well. Essentially, Tinseltown is a HUGE mess right now with no signs of the allegations and convictions slowing down anytime soon. Truly sad and harrowing times for those involved in the industry that many of us admire.

In the wake of many coming forward it has also given life and strength to others to come forward as well with their tales of dealing with the underbelly of this business. Recently, actress Katie Stegeman has come forward with a very sad and heart breaking story that details the abuse she received by her then employer and director of Madison County and Contracted. Both of which star Stegeman and both of which were directed by England. Below I have included the statement to save you some digging time. Stegeman released this lengthy announcement recently about the events that took place between herself and director Eric England:

“[Pause. What a pleasure. Deep Breath.] For many years I have been keeping this man’s secret from going public. For many years I had to make sure I was safe and of sound mind coming forward. I wanted to come from a place of kindness and without fear. Well, today is the day. For three years, director Eric England abused me physically, emotionally, mentally, and sexually. The irony of this photo is not lost on me. I was thrown into tables, choked until I couldn’t breathe, threatened with scissors, knives, screwdrivers, and was denied the right to turn this man down for sex for fear of, as he called it “awakening the beast.” To say I am lucky to be alive is an understatement. Sitting and watching the trailer for his latest movie #Josie is all the reminder I need to come forward. Impressionable, young amazing women like @sophiet should not be working with someone like him, and if I remain quiet, the pattern will continue. Eric, I hope this forces you to bow out gracefully and get the help you need. I know your team is aware of your history as well as the LAPD. It’s time to go and give way to the creatives of this town, who also know how to treat people when no one is looking. I want you to know I forgive you and thank you for reminding me how strong I am. I also want the people, who knew about Eric’s abuse and continued to work for him to know, that I forgive you too. But now you have a choice. From here on out I ask you to do the right thing…even though it’s impossible at times. I want to thank all the amazing people in my life, who stood by me no questions asked. Especially my amazing hero @jackstargrundy, who reminded me that great men still exist. I stayed quiet for the integrity of our movies, out of respect for your family, for fear of you running a smear campaign, for fear of you hurting me, for fear of you stopping my movie, for fear of you making sure no horror director would hire me, but I am no longer afraid. I will happily put my career aside, if it means saving someone’s life, because no one should ever have to go through what I endured. I hope you find your peace and come out of this a better man. Love and light.“

Though no charges has been pressed yet and the director himself, Eric England has not released a statement yet, there is word however, that a statement is coming from his end soon. We will amend that statement to this article if/when it becomes released to the public. We here at Horror Headquarters try to keep the stories here positive and uplifting for the most part. However, we can not and will not turn a blind eye to vile activity of this sort. We wish the best for Katie and hope that she can overcome these setbacks in time and push forward with her career successfully. On the other hand we hope that Mr. England seeks help for his issues and that he sincerely apologizes for his actions if these allegations are founded to indeed be true.

Masters of Disguise! – The Art of Cosplay

March 16, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Editorial

With it being Monster Mania weekend, the horror community takes this time to get a bit creative. I can tell you first hand, there were a lot of cos-players who had some awesome costumes. Some more detailed than others but all very unique in their own way. I chose this topic to talk about because I have an interest in getting involved with cosplay. I loved dressing up as a kid and going trick or treating with my brothers. As a young teen, I’d cut my old blankets and/or clothes and make “new” outfits out of them. I have an idea of what I’d want my first cosplay character to be, but I’d also like to hear some suggestions. I’m up for anything. The hard part for me is the makeup. I’d probably have no problem with the outfit/costumes, but if it isn’t a casual makeup application, I’m all discombobulated.

We had a ton of Pennywise and Georgie cos-players due to the fact that Tim Curry was one of Monster Mania’s guests, along with 5 of the kids from 2017’s ‘It’. I saw many different versions of the original Pennywise and the new Pennywise. There were also many cute versions of Georgie (you know, before he was eaten). My favorite costume out of the multiple Pennywise’s was the one down below….

This costume was one of the most detailed and I think about the only one I saw that closely stuck to the film the most. Although, many of the other Pennywise’s I saw were noticeably women cos-players, toddlers, and teens. The one above I assume was a man. But you can never be sure. I’ve seen some pretty sick Halloween makeup tutorials done by women creating intense and scary horror looks. Anyway, here are some of the other Pennywise’s that were seen at this years Monster Mania…

Since 6 out of 9 Jason’s was at this con, EVERYONE had to be Jason. I’ve never seen so many Jason’s in one place. Men, women, and children were dressed as Jason. I have to admit, it was pretty cool seeing a female Jason. I even saw a little baby Jason. He was so cute!! The Jason I saw the most of was Part 3 Jason I believe. Then again, I think it was the same way last year as well.

We ran into this one guy who was dressed as the man on the cover of ‘The Thing’ due to John Carpenter being the con’s headliner. He was pretty cool. I think Chris was bumped by tank on his back.

This dude here! I thought this was the most creative costume I’ve seen. I think it was the same guy we saw last year dress fully as Deadpool. If not, whoever you are, you are awesome! DEAD WISE? PENNY POOL? DEAD PENNY? I don’t know. Whatever your name is, keep doing what you’re doing!

The zombies have risen for this special occasion for Tony Todd was a guest. If you dont know, he starred in Tom Savini’s Night of the Living Dead. Shout out to the ONLY zombie I saw. If there were others, they were hiding.

Michael Myers also made an appearance… multiple appearances. Obviously because of Carpenter. He was creeping through the crowd and being, you know, creepy.

Freddy Kruger, Lydia, Edward(a) Scissorhands, the twins from The Shining, and much more was seen. Either the cos-players didn’t want a photo taken or we just didn’t get around to catching them in the tight conditions we were in. I also saw some costumes that just went with the horror vibe. Vampires, werewolves, etc… The original gang of monsters, I call them.

Thanks to all the cos-players who allowed Chris to take photos and thanks to Chris for taking time to taking the photos. Every costume was amazing. We have no idea who you are, but if you see this, feel free to reach out. Now, that I have an idea on how I want to do this whole cosplay thing and I see how accomplishing it can feel to put time into this hobby and to be able to wear your creation when you’re finished. I am ready to take on the challenge.

Johannes Roberts Wants to Helm a John Carpenter Remake

March 16, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Word has it that The “Strangers: Prey at Night” Director Johannes Roberts has an interest to remake a John Carpenter classic! Roberts spoke in an interview and claimed: “I go into Sony every week, under the pretense of doing something else. Like, ‘Oh yeah, you got this news…so about Christine…’ Yeah, I don’t know what’s happening with that. I’ll get it one day”. Roberts also has previously stated that Christine is one of his favorite if not favorite films. In addition to this, he has also stated interest in remaking another Carpenter classic, “Memoirs of an Invisible Man“. Now, I understand people are typically 100% against remakes. Granted, there has been some real shit turds to get released. However, I will NEVER shit on anything until it is seen by me personally.

Now, do I think these films require remakes? I don’t think Christine NEEDS it, but I am not opposed to it either. I am kind of curious how a modern take of “Christine” would end up. However, I also don’t think they need to even try to do a “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” remake at all. Carpenter created great tones with both these films. But, if I am being brutally honest here I am not a HUGE fan of either one. I think if the film choices were different, then perhaps my attitude would be more tense. I don’t know how I would feel about a “They Live” or “Big Trouble in Little China” remake. Those are more of my speed and two of my favorite Carpenter flicks.

At the moment though, this is only speculation and hearsay. Hopefully we can dig more details up on this soon on whether or not Roberts will follow through with these concepts. Either way, Horror Headquarters will be following along with any developments and updates that become public. What are your favorite Carpenter films and which would you be totally against being remade? Let us know in the comments below!

The Carpenter Depression – When you DON’T Get to Meet a Legend

March 15, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News, Conventions, Editorial

I have been a HUGE John Carpenter for many years. The man has produced some of my favorite genre pieces! From the ever classic Halloween all the way to more modern flicks like The Ward. Carpenter has delivered to the genre in a multitude of levels. Not just directing but also scoring many of his own classic films. The Thing, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, The Fog, Christine and several others have ALL been blessed with the carpenter composition treatment!! Lots of great films with coinciding, amazing soundtracks to compliment the movies. He even delved into the anthology world with the classic 1993 film “Body Bags”.

Now, as we approached Monster-Mania 39 my excitement grew tremendously! I was FINALLY going to meet my favorite horror film director in the flesh! As we got to MM39, I realized the lines were going to be hefty. So the first signing I went for was Carpenter himself. Sadly, I was informed shortly after that he was getting tired and the staff was convincing people to come back tomorrow. No problem, we obliged and decided to try again the next day, which was Saturday. So the big day rolls around and we depart the telly for the con. As we got there, we noticed this day was MUCH more crowded than Friday was, still, not a huge deal. We walk around a bit to vendors and seek staff to determine where Carpenter is located, as we could not find any signs that indicated his location. Finally, we get answers on his whereabouts and head on over. We are told he was on a lunch break at this time and we needed tickets to get a SPOT in the line to get the CHANCE to meet him. We were a bit reluctant but took the ticket. Later in the day we were informed that the lines for him were exceeding 5 hours waits. This realistically would mean spending the entire con day in line for the chance to get the pic/auto.

As the day progressed and time passed closer to us coming back for our slotted time the convention grew larger and more unruly. As we were going outside for a break we were told, “If you leave there’s a GREAT chance, you will NOT be allowed back in”. Now keep in mind, we all three had weekend passes. So this statement from the staff kinda bummed us out a bit and felt a bit unfair considering we paid for weekend passes. The reason we wanted to get some air is because the event was SO overcrowded. It was obvious they did not expect such a turn out as the one they got. None the less, it was a few moments after the shitty news we got from the staff that I had decided. I just CAN’T get this auto and pic. At that very moment, I had the Carpenter depression!

This incredible artist and creator that I had spent my whole child hood idolizing was a short walk away from me, but the opportunity became too cumbersome. I was heartbroken and saddened. The ONLY saving grace I had was that I got to save $120. However, this may of been a once in a life time event. I wanted to do this SO bad. In fact, my girlfriend Naya and my good friend Chris, BOTH knew this was the main draw for me at this convention. They could tell I was bummed and hit with a deep case of the Carpenter depression. Sadly, I never even got to SEE the man at ALL. In all honesty, it was the most disappointing moment of my convention circuit. I can only hope one day I will get the chance to meet him at a more accommodating venue. Until then, I shall vanish into The Fog and pray that day comes!

Rob Zombie’s New film “3 From Hell” Has Officially Begun Filming

March 14, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

A few months ago we broke news that Rob Zombie was working on a new film. We were told it was going to be a sequel to “The Devils Rejects” and would aptly be titled “The Devils Rejects 2: 3 From Hell”. Well, Zombie has in fact killed the title rumor by declaring the REAL title recently. They decided to drop the actual title and keep just the subtitle. Therefore, the film will be called “3 From Hell”.

Previously, Rob released “House of 1000 corpses” which is the first tale in this trilogy. Later in 2005 he released his highly acclaimed sequel to the film “The Devils Rejects”. It has been a long decade plus gap since the last film in the franchise. Granted over the last decade Zombie has dropped some other notable projects as well. “31” and “The Lords of Salem” both brought varying vibes from Zombie that showed a new versatility in his film making style. This leads me to think we may see something really special with this film once Rob releases it. The title would indicate that it is very possible to see a return from the original death defying trio of Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon.

Who knows what is truly in store for us with this 3rd film in the franchise. One thing that I do know, is that I am extremely excited about this one and am hoping we can get some casting and release information asap. Granted, the film is still in early production but I have a feeling more information will be in the pipe line soon enough. Are you personally looking forward to a new Rob Zombie film and a 3rd film in the House/Rejects trilogy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Fabricating a Phobia – Meeting the Chiodo Brothers

March 13, 2018 by Chris Mays
Breaking News, Conventions, Editorial

I hate clowns…

There. I said it.

Okay, okay, maybe hate is a strong word. I strongly, strongly dislike clowns. And it’s always just inherently… been a thing, about me, as far back as I can remember. I recall distinctly, as a REALLY young kid, having one of those generic “insert your kids name here” books that parents love, with the really super bright and colorful illustrations including plain-featured everyboy or everygirl to accommodate the story. Mine was of generic Chris enjoying a day at the circus. And as one would expect, ya know, it featured a damn clown. As a recurring character. On like… every page.

And to be fair… he was a really friendly looking clown. This was well before I’d had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting the likes of Pennywise, or Twisty, or Art the Clown. This was just a regular ol’, run-o-the-mill clown with a big round red nose and even bigger shit-eating grin. The jerk. I still recall just having this unexplainable aversion to this oddly colorful, big shoed adult man waving balloons around. He was just creepy.

Have you ever seen a vintage photo of a clown? No? Do me a favor and open a new tab and Google “1800’s clowns.” Yeah. You’re welcome. Have fun sleeping tonight. Does this kid look stoked?

Yeah don’t look like it to me.

So, I’m not alone! Ha! Yeah! Take that, everyone currently reading this and giggling thus far.

Coulrophobia, while not an “official” phobia as deemed by the World Health Organisation, is widely known and accepted as meaning the fear of clowns, and is a young entry among the list of true and pseudo-phobias, having only existed as long as clowns themselves have. Long story short, there’s not a ton of pre-existing study out there to pull real statistics from, but its estimated something like 12% of American adults suffer from this same aversion, and some studies have shown that kids are more prone to not just avoid, but fear clowns. So, as a someone who’s basically an 11-year-old in a 30-year-old’s body, I’ll take my place in the 12%, bare thine giggles, jam my thumbs in my ears and twist my open hands to and fro shouting “NER NER NER NER NER”.

So, let’s fast forward a few years to what I now recall as being my first experience to really amplify clowns from “creepy” to flat out “aww hell no”, my older sister sitting me down to watch a movie. I’m sure some of you had that older sibling growing up who loved to expose you to stuff you prooooobably weren’t quite old enough to be exposed to just yet, and my sister was really, really good at this (Jaime I love you and you might have single-handedly instilled a love of horror in me but, you were a snot and you know it). Little did I know this movie would stick with me to this very day as one of the single most terrifying things I’d ever seen. Or… ya know… that my sister would continue to exploit that fear for her own amusement for years to come, though I probably should’ve seen that comin’.

That movie was Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Now, as an adult—and admittedly it’s been a few years since I’ve seen this flick but c’mon man, its clowns—this movie is a dark-but-comedic cult classic boasting perhaps one of my favorite artistic visions of any movie of this era, existing in a realm I like to draw from in my own creations, somewhere between real life and cartoon-level fantasy. But… as a kid, I wanted to claw my eyes out. Fast enough to start a friction fire. So I could set the TV ablaze so this wretched film could never hurt anyone again.

I don’t remember a ton from that first watch aside from being scared out of my wits by it. I remember thinking the ship was fantastical, but in an ominous way—part of me wanted to go play in it, and part of me knew if I did I wasn’t leaving. The clowns to me, inertly terrifying just for being clowns to begin with, were exaggerated physically and in oddity to the Nth degree, taking everything terrifying I already knew about the idea of a clown up that scale with it. They didn’t really speak, they didn’t need to, the evil bastards. But the cocoons… the big cotton candy cocoons, I had nightmares about for weeks. This movie had fully solidified my fear of clowns.

You’re… you’re giggling again… guys… okay, let’s… let’s just press on.

Fast forward again to a few months back, at Klive’s house and he’s reading me the list of celebrities to appear at this past weekend’s Monster Mania 39 in Cherry Hill. Klive’s a close personal friend so he’s, let’s say, encountered my aversion to clowns on more than one occasion in the past, and grinned devilishly as he said “…oh YOU’RE gonna love this one, ready for this?” The Chiodo Brothers themselves, the creators of these creatures which served as the seed that’d grow into a lifelong phobia, were going to be live in the flesh doing signings and meet-and-greets, with, supposedly a ton of props from the film AND a Saturday Q&A. I was equally mortified and excited. I believe my exact response was a scathingly sarcastic “Oh GREEEEEEEEAT…” squeezed through gritted teeth and a worried smile.

I’ve never been the type to come to these sorts of events for the celebrity meet and greets. I love conventions for the environment, I love the vendors—particularly the art and creators booths, being a creator myself, and to be fair I do enjoy just being in the same room as some of these folks and listening to their Q & A panels, hearing their story about pursuing their crafts and seeing them interact with fans. When Klive, Naya and myself have gone to these kinds of events in the past, typically I’m the dude hanging out beside the line with the camera waiting to snap a good couple shots of THEIR interactions meeting some of their favorites. But on Friday night, as the convention was coming to a close for the first night and we realized we were in probably our last room for the evening, even I hopped in the line for what I’m now calling Killer Klown Alley.

As we walked in I immediately zeroed in on a mask. A familiar looking mask. A clown mask. Even the thought of a decapitated clown made my stomach flip. Quickly I came to realize that the entire back length of the wall of one of the smaller signing rooms, along with another two booths down the side, were set up the cast and crew behind Killer Klowns, including Suzanne Snyder, Grant Cramer, Mike Martinez, Harrod Blank, and the Chiodo Brothers, Stephen, Edward and Charlie. Klive hopped in line for Suzanne as I nervously eyed up the various props from the film around the room.

Klive finished up his chat with Suzanne, we snapped a couple photos and he snagged her signature on his Klowns BluRay, and we quickly shuffled over to the Chiodo brothers line and THAT’S when they got me. I noticed a large binder full of what looked like large art prints, and some pink books strewn across their lengthy set of tables. The line was slow but my interest was piqued and anxiety at least muffled by the promise of soon flipping through this huge book of art.

Now, I didn’t know a whole lot about the Chiodo brothers before this event, to be quite honest. I was aware that all 3 had a background in special effects work and creature/character creation across various films (you might’ve seen their work in Critters, Team America, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, and Ernest Scared Stupid as well to name a few—thanks for that damn troll too guys, really, 10 year old me REALLY appreciates that one too), but I had zero idea that the initial fever-dreams behind the Klowns would be on display that night in the signing room, in the form of sketches—presumably penned with some demon-bird’s quill dipped in hell-scorpion venom—from the hands of Charlie Chiodo, specifically.

Once the line had finally inched far enough that I felt comfortable enough to butt in front of Naya to get my paws on this binder full of prints I did just that, and dove in headlong into sketch after sketch of clown after clown, of all shapes and sizes and configurations of colors, several of which were done in a very messy, conceptual, stylistic kind of way that reminded me of how I often like to do my sketches, just… much more refined and stylized. I wanted to buy them all, but at what I feel was a very fair 40 dollars a piece (they were fairly large, and signed, prints), my wallet wasn’t with it.

So instead I just opted to browse from cover to cover and back again, presumably with a massive grin on my face, and while we were still nowhere near the front of the line, I guess that my artsy fanboying caught the attention of Charlie, who strolled down to our end of the table and struck up a conversion about his pieces. He explained how this sketch was an adaptation of this clown character from the film, or how this sketch later went on to become a rendering which then became the actual interior of the ship set you see in the movie. I was enthralled at the process and method and story behind each one of these images. And maybe more-so, at how Charlie lit up like a kid on Christmas sharing his behind-the-scenes take on his creations.

So enthralled actually that I didn’t get a whole lot of shots of any of those prints, although I don’t think that the artist in me would share them here anyway. But I emplore you, if you’re into the art style of Killer Klowns, go and search out Charlie’s stuff.

Charlie did sell me on one of those pink books I mentioned earlier though, which turned out to be one of the coolest published sketchbooks I’ve ever seen an artist put out, titled “Invasion of the Clown Clones”. It’s basically a series of preliminary and then more finalized sketches of pop culture icons (ranging from H.P. Lovecraft to King Kong and beyond) lending from the Killer Klowns aesthetic. Each spread features a QR code, which can be scanned to land the user at a video of Charlie actually working through the sketches for that page. I thought this was one of the coolest concepts I’ve ever seen in a published book of sketches, and potentially one of the best uses I’ve ever seen of a QR code… maybe EVER… as well, if I’m being honest. He was selling the book for $25, and offered to sign it with his brothers as well. Given that a signature alone was 30 bucks, and that I was in love with this art, I couldn’t pass it up. Charlie personalized his signature before passing the book down the table to his brothers, with a note reading:

“To Chris,
Imagination and art are always best when shared!”

Once we’d arrived at our the main table for the brothers, we got to chat with all 3 of them a bit more about their films and their affinity for dreaming up particularly twisted looking and unsettling creatures, characters, props and more. All of them were extremely genuine, down to earth and easy to speak to, and seemed more than happy to engage with their fans. I got to tell them how much their stuff messed me up as a kid, which, as a creature creator for spooky flicks I gotta think is a huge compliment. They certainly seemed very pleased. I thanked Charlie again for the book, telling him as an artist how much I love to see this kind of stuff, and as we went to leave, he stopped me and said “hey, find me on Facebook man, I’d love to see your stuff.”

So giggle all you like—this long-winded article has all been a set-up, really, to a wholehearted thank you to the Chiodo brothers. Thank you for screwing me up as a kid and being a huge early influence into my obsession with exposing myself to fear and horror. Thanks for being perhaps one of the coolest and most humbling celebrity meet-and-greet experiences I’ve ever had at any event. And thank you for inspiring a fellow artist to share.

Even if it’s sharing a grotesque nightmare.

Oh and for all you fellow coulrophobes, keep your eyes and ears peeled for an upcoming clown-themed episode of the Horror Headquarters Podcast. Might just hear yours truly as a guest speaker.

“Be My Victim!” – Meeting Candyman Himself

March 12, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Conventions, Editorial

First of all, being in the same room with Tony Todd was a dream come true! I never thought I’d see myself actually meeting him in person. I’ve talked about it all the time with James, but that was before I knew he was coming to New Jersey for Monster Mania. I went crazy when James told me!

The very 1st Tony Todd movie I saw was ‘Candyman’. I was only 13 years old, my mom was flipping through channels and Candyman was playing on the SCI-FI channel (that’s how it was spelled at the time), and I started watching it. Then my mom told me he was real and takes little kids who were bad. Of course, I believed it. Ever since, I’ve been terrified of him. But obviously, as I got older, Candyman didn’t scare me so much. At least not until Candyman was actually standing right beside me..

So we’re standing in line, and we’re about 3-5 people away from the table, and I’m getting super anxious. I see Tony Todd as he gets up to take a photo with Steve Dash (Jason from ‘Friday The 13th Part 2’). **Side Note: That red head dude to the right of James was Tony Todd’s assistant. He reminded me of Seth Green’s character, Richie, from the original ‘It’ movie. #SorryNotSorry**

My 1st thought: Nothing. I’m too busy secretly screaming with excitement on the inside. I couldn’t believe how close we were. Maybe 5 minutes later, it’s our turn. James pulls out his Night of the Living Dead DVD to be signed, and as he’s talking to Mr. Todd, my stomach’s doing some weird little happy dance which in fact made me nauseous. When it comes time for the photo, James asks if I wanted to jump in with them. I wanted to say no because I was so nervous, but I obviously said yes, which was the best decision of my life. As I’m standing beside Tony frickin’ Todd, Candyman himself, I started shaking. James had the nerve to tell Tony Todd that I was, in fact, scared of Candyman. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! Next thing I know, he looks at me with a straight face, in his Candyman voice, and asked me my name and where I was from. I was able to tell him my name, but when I couldn’t tell him where I was from, he said “It doesn’t matter. Candyman can find you anywhere and he’s coming!” That’s when I froze. I couldn’t stop laughing, I was shaking really bad, and I was hating James so much for that.

But after that, I was able to calm myself down and finally get this photo.

I just want to give an official shoutout to Tony Todd for making my 1st actual celebrity interaction amazing. I mean, I’ve interacted with the other celebrities as well, but Tony Todd was the 1st celeb I’ve ever gotten a photo with. I was always too nervous. So, thank you for pulling me out of my shell and also showing me that Candyman is absolutely scarier in real life.

Enter The Murder Triangle! The Meeting of 3 Jasons at Monster-Mania 39

March 11, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News, Conventions

As we began to delve into the first day of the con we wanted to try and focus on knocking out as many signatures as we could. We entered the first main signing room quite early and began the adventure. First up out of the three different Jason Voorhees actors I met was Ken Kirzinger. Ken is known for his role as Jason Voorhees in Freddy VS. Jason, the pivotal film that contested two of the biggest icons of our beloved genre. He was also in Watchmen, Cabin in The Woods and Joy Ride 2 as well. The line was not crazy, crazy long and the price was fair. $30 netted me a signature and a photo with the man himself. I gave him my F13 blu ray box set to sign. I flipped it to the FVJ slot in the box set book and let him sign it up with a nifty chrome paint marker. (Yes, he misspelled my name with a “C” haha! I don’t think I specified with a “K” so that’s my fault.) You can check out our pics below and the pic of his auto on my box set.

After that we visited, Ted White, the legendary John Wayne stunt double AND Friday The 13th Part 4’s Jason Voorhees as well. The man is 92 years old and STILL getting out to cons, that alone warrants a tip of the hat. I was a bit nervous going up to his line, which to be fair was also not a crazy long wait. As I got to the front of the line and prepared for my opportunity to get my F13 set signed yet again, I spoke to the manager at his table. She sadly informed me he was not taking anymore photos for the day, as I think he was not feeling well, totally understandable. So, I gave him the chrome paint marker and let him sign away instead of doing the photo. The price was $40 for his signature and would of been $10 more for a photo. But well worth it in the long run, as this was one the last Jason autos I needed for this box set and Ted is truly a legend. You can check out the signature below.

Finally, I was planning to see C.J. Graham next for the last signature of the day on my box set. However, we could NOT find him to save our lives haha. We checked three different signing rooms with no sign of C.J. Finally, near the end of the day we spot him heading into the restaurant at the telly. This at LEAST let us know he was in the building. When Saturday rolled around we made it a mission to find C.J. This was not just for the autograph either, we had spoke to C.J. prior and planned on setting an interview up with him at the event. Sadly, things were a bit too busy and we had to push it back to a different time/date. We are still ironing those details out but rest assured, we will be interviewing C.J. very soon. Back to the details though, C.J. had a pretty short line as well but it took a little bit longer to get to the front. He DOES spend time with each fan and that to me means a lot! The price was $30 for a signature and photo together. I decided to get both and wrap up nearly all the signatures finally for my box set (I still need Ari!!). I gave C.J. the paint marker and let him go to town. Afterwards, we briefly exchanged emails to ensure we can lock the interview in I shook his hand and ended the F13 journey.

It was really a blast meeting these three gentlemen. All three of them were very kind and polite. C.J. especially made sure to chat it up some and thank us for coming to his table. There were also three other Jason’s in attendance: Kane Hodder, Tom Morga and Steve Dash. Thankfully, I had met all three of them prior at the previous convention and got them to sign my box set as well. Unfortunately due to their passing I will never be able to get Richard Brooker or Betsy Palmer. I will however continue my quest to get signatures from others involved on it as well. Time will tell who will be the next auto. Hopefully you guys and gals enjoyed reading through this experience almost as much as I enjoyed living it! Tell us about your experience meeting a Jason Voorhees actor at a convention below in the comments!

Slasher Fan Gets Slashed At Monster-Mania 39

March 10, 2018 by Chris Mays
Breaking News, Conventions

(UPDATED as of 3/14/18, 4:30pm)

As MM39 came to a close yesterday, fans and attendees of the convention have taken to the internet to voice their opinions (and often, their discontentment) with the outcomes of this latest event and management issues that came along with the massive crowds. We’ll reserve our opinions on these issues, perhaps for articles later this week, but this Monday morning we’ve spent a great deal of time going through these posts, Facebook comments, YouTube vlogs, etc, and some more information regarding this incident with Kane Hodder from Friday’s opening night have come to light so we thought it only right to amend our story.

Please note we’re largely working with hearsay from other show-goers here, but this is what we know, until Kane or the convention management itself issues any sort of statement, please take everything with a grain of salt.

Fellow convention attendee Anthony T. was kind enough to join our growing Horror Headquarters community on Facebook after reading the original article below in order to help shine some light on the incident:

“Yea I was there it was Steve Nappe who was cut with the machete… a fan had brought one in for Kane to sign and apparently it was sharp… it did cut Steve pretty bad though I felt bad for Kane as well because it tore him up. They really shouldn’t let people bring something that sharp in because that place was packed, people were pushing and shoving just to even get through the lobby”

Steve Nappe is a friend of Hodder’s and fellow actor & stuntman in this business, and we can confirm that Nappe WAS indeed present prior to the incident, but not after.

Anthony informs us that his interaction with Hodder as a fan and convention-goer happened post-incident, and that Hodder was very shaken up by what had happened but reported that his friend was doing okay and in the right hands getting medical attention.

As for the fan who brought in the REAL blade for Hodder to sign, we’ve heard a lot of conjecture but nothing finite. In the comments section of a rant and vlog YouTube video posted on 3/11/18 (the Sunday of the show) by channel Genuine Reels Movies & Comedy, several consumers of the show voice their opinions on event management issues from this years event, including a comment by one Scott H, who presents a lengthy set of thoughts and criticisms of the event from a STAFF MEMBER’s perspective, and points out that:

“…the fan flat out lied to him and told him it was a fake prop and not sharp at all. After that you know what happened.”

As a huge fan of these events, I’ve personally always been bewildered by the leniency of this type of thing occuring, I’ve DEFINITELY seen other real weaponry and dangerous articles brought in by fans solely for the purpose of having a celebrity sign them. Now… the horror community is genuinely a rare breed in that 99.9% of the fans and consumers you might meet and one of these events are very likely to be the coolest, nicest person you’ve ever met. Anyone I’ve ever had a conversation with at any of these events HONESTLY feels like a friend, or a family member. So I can understand why these kinds of things would be overlooked with such a genuinely well-behaved group. How ironic is it that a group of nerds that just LOVES to see people mangled to pieces, or chopped to bits, or terrified beyond the natural world, would be friendlier than your average dad at a middle school ballgame?

What does this mean for the bag-checking and front-entrance policies of future shows? We’ll have to just add this to the list of communicative and management issues that have surfaced after this most recent event, and wait and see how MM40 is handled.

We’ll update this thread if any additional info becomes available. See below for the original article and photos posted late Friday night from the show.

Klive, Naya and myself arrived fairly early to an extremely busy opening Friday night of the 39th Monster Mania horror convention around 5:45 this evening. This weekend marks my second Monster Mania, but I’m no stranger to the convention experience, and I think I can safely speak for all three of us when I say – after wandering the first few early hours of the show, this lineup has drawn in quite the crowd (keep your eyes peeled throughout this week for additional articles, interviews, and more content from the show!)

After bouncing up and down in the ticket line for about 45 minutes, trying to forget how much water I’d drank on the drive up (while Klive and Naya strolled right in, being the good pre-ordering horror nerds they are), we quickly made our first rounds and got our bearings. The layout this time around feels very familiar to our last show here in Cherry Hill, so it didn’t take us long to find our way around. Eager to get a head-start on the weekend, we made our way to the signing rooms to get our line-riding out of the way before the REAL big crowds show up tomorrow.

In between signings, I stepped outside to get some air and drop off an armful of horror treasures at the car. Stepping around the side of enormous Crown Plaza Hotel, my eye was immediately caught by the flashing lights of an ambulance… barely 3 hours into the show?

Not thinking too much of it, and not seeing any easy-to-spot clues as to what in the actual hell was going on, I snapped a couple quick shots like any decent nosy event photographer would, finished shivering through my cigarette and shuffled my way back into the madness…

…to immediately be greeted by a very anxious looking Klive with some unfortunate news. While I was out, (according to other fans in the signing room) acclaimed actor, stuntman and producer Kane Hodder was involved in an extremely unlucky and ironic incident with a fan during a meet-and-greet and signing in which, while posing for a photo opportunity with the star using a real machete for dramatic effect, the fan was left severely injured. The fan was reportedly sliced deeply across the forearm, requiring immediate medical attention and leaving a great deal of very real blood in his wake.

Suddenly the ambulances made more sense.

Kane is a huge name in this events lineup and maybe more notably – the horror community, most widely known for his roles as deformed bringers of death Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Parts VII & VIII, Jason Goes to Hell, & Jason X, and Victor Crowley in Hatchet I, II, & III.

My eyes shot around the room and landed on Hodder’s booth, which was suddenly vacant aside from a few folks who appeared to be waiting for Kane to return with worried faces. After about 10 minutes, a pair of attendees approached the booth and removed a heavily bloodied tablecloth, bundling it up quickly and tossing it in the garbage can one booth over. After about fifteen minutes, a very shaken and remorseful looking Hodder returned to his booth, regained his spirits with the fans and continued meeting and signing.

Kane’s face says it all: this incident sounds like nothing more than a very simple but terrifyingly dangerous accident. Something that ironically, could fit right in as a scene from one of the many horror films we’re all here to celebrate.

From what we can tell, the injured fan was rushed immediately to the hospital for treatment, but at this time we have no further information regarding his condition. Our hearts and thoughts go out to him and Kane in regards to this unfortunate accident, and we wish him a quick recovery.

We can only imagine this may or may not have some impact on this venue and Monster Mania as a whole, in particular their policies and protocol in regards to real weaponry in the building.

Nevertheless, the crowd didn’t seem too overly discomforted or disheartened by the incident. Whats that saying… “the show must go on!”

Keep your eyes peeled throughout this week for additional articles, interviews, and more content from the show!

The Crow Reboot Coming in 2019 Starring Aquaman, Jason Momoa

March 9, 2018 by Takster
Breaking News

2019 will see a reboot of The Crow franchise by Sony Pictures.

James O’Barr’s avant-garde grunge comic The Crow is set to be reborn on film in 2019. Sony Pictures is rebooting the classic Brandon Lee film from 1994. The new film will star Jason Momoa (Justice League), who’s solo Aquaman film is in post-production, and will be directed by Corin Hardy (The Nun) – Hardy won best Director at the 2015 Screamfest for his acclaimed film The Hallow. Musician turned screenwriter, Nick Cave, has been tapped to write the script.

Sony wants the new film to stay closer to the 1989 graphic novel, where young musician Eric Draven is ambushed, paralyzed, and forced to see the love of his life, Sarah, sexually assaulted and killed before later dying himself in the hospital. He is soon revived by a magical black crow and set on a path of vengeance. Whether this retelling will involve a more communicative titular black bird remains to be seen.
Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, died shortly before shooting wrapped on the 1994 cult classic film, when he was shot with an improperly loaded blank, shattering his spine. In the commentary track for Day of the Dead, FX master Tom Savini explained, from his industry sources, that the gunmaster from The Crow was let go, and the prop department took over the handling of all gun related effects, perhaps leading to the accidental ‘squib load’ that killed Lee.

The rebooted Crow film will share a busy weekend on October 11, 2019, as the animated The Addams Family and an adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Are you Afraid of the Dark? will also hit theaters that weekend.

This is great news for fans who were upset by the Tales From The Crypt reboot falling through which was to be helmed by Shyamalan as well and the more recent Wayward Pines, which also met its demise (Another Shyamalan project).  We are hoping to get word on the series format as well as more details on the actual direction they decide to take it. Let us know below in the comments if you are looking forward to a series finally coming from M. Night Shyamalan!

Arrow Video to Release Argento’s Deep Red in the United States and Canada

March 7, 2018 by Sam Edwards
Breaking News, DVD / Blu Ray Release

A little history about Arrow Video:

Established in 1991, Arrow Films mostly assisted in distributing Arthouse, World Cinema, Horror, and Classic film to home media and theaters. Arrow would go on to launch Arrow Video, which happened to be a sub-label that focused on Cult Cinema. However, many of their titles they released would have terrible video transfers or lack great special features, this of course wasn’t their fault, but the fault of the licensor. It wasn’t until 2012 that Arrow Films would decide to basically revamp their sub-label by trying to acquire more unique special features and doing the very best video transfers they could afford. Arrow Video’s first major home video title after this revamping was Lucio Fulci’s masterpiece, and pseudo-sequel to George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, Zombie (Zombi 2, Zombie Flesh Eaters).

The big downside to this company was that they were United Kingdom based. Unfortunately, this meant almost, if not all, of their releases were Region B locked. Of course this also meant that people in the United States, Canada, and other countries that were locked to Region A, did not have ease of access to their titles. Many people actually opted to get Region Free Players or Region B players with plug adapters. This proved to be a great, but expensive, method for many collectors to get their hands on Arrow Video’s amazing releases.

Along comes 2014 and Arrow Video had some big news; they were going to launch a US Arrow Video label distributed through MVD! Now fans in the United States, Canada, and other regions didn’t have to buy an expensive Region Free Blu ray player or opt to get a Region B Blu ray player with a plug adapter. The only catch to this big announcement was that the label needed to successfully raise $100,000 from an Indiegogo campaign to actually secure their position with MVD. Needless to say, they effortlessly raised the money and even received $20,000 over the goal. A huge step indeed for such an amazing company.

Despite this, however, Arrow Video still could not release some titles in the Region A territories due to rights issues. One of these very titles was Dario Argento’s Giallo masterpiece, Profondo Rosso, but more widely known as, Deep Red, which received a UK only release in 2016. Now, over 2 years later, Arrow Video secured the rights to release this very amazing film on April 10th in the United States and Canada!

Author’s Notes:

This is definitely a great release for collectors who missed out on the UK release, which is highly out of print, or those who don’t have a Region Free/Region B player. It should be no surprise that I highly recommend this film and this release as I own the initial UK release and am a HUGE Giallo and Italian horror fan. For those that have never seen the film, I implore you to check it out; and this release is definitely the best way to check it out!

Could “Evil Dead 4” Be A Real Possibility?

March 5, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Ash vs. Evil Dead has just begun its run for season 3 and has been renewed by starz. However, the future of the show and season 4 is still up in the air. We here at HH would love to see a Evil Dead 4 come to fruition! Sadly, a lot of the sequels us fans dream up likely won’t happen. But after some of the comments from Bruce…well, they can make one raise an eyebrow for sure. Campbell has recently told Entertainment Weekly:

“We won’t know [if we’ve been renewed] till the middle of March. We’re in the horrible television limbo right now…If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie. And if they don’t, we can just keep plugging away.”

We can only speculate what direction “Evil Dead 4” would go. We have heard rumors of a 4th film for years and a ton of possible concepts, some stemming from the makers of the films themselves. Hopefully we can find out the success of the show soon to determine if this is something that will actually happen. Either way, one thing is for sure, we have not seen the last deadites yet. If you are excited to hear the possible news of a 4th film let us know in the comments below!

Blizzard Entertainment Tweet Lights A Fire Under Nintendo Switch & Diablo 3 Fans

March 2, 2018 by Chris Mays
Breaking News, Video Games

At 10pm on February 27th, major gaming production company Blizzard Entertainment tweeted a short, 6-second clip of a nightlight being switched on and off repeatedly with accompanying short-but-enticing caption: “Sweet dreams.”  This nightlight clearly features the face of Diablo, the main antagonist and title character of one of their flagship franchises of the same name. Since then the tweet has acquired 160 THOUSAND views, 1,131 retweets and 4,321 likes.

You can view the tweet HERE

Clearly Blizzard knows how to rouse their fanbase, and it didn’t take long for folks to make the immediate connection… “Diablo… switched on and off… Diablo…switch? Wait… Diablo 3 for the Nintendo Switch? GUYS! HEY GUYS! COME LOOKIT THIS!”

Almost immediately, Blizzard tried to play damage control with the fans reactions, releasing a statement saying “We can assure you we’re not that clever, [It was] meant to be a fun community engagement piece. We have nothing to announce.” (src. Polygon)

Not that clever eh? Pfft. Says the company who’s manned the helm of the largest grossing, PC-nerd-captivating World of Warcraft for over a decade, which might I add is riddled with pop-culture and tongue-in-cheek references. Not to mention countless other titles with similar references, jokes, and generally witty and clever content. Totally. Definitely not that clever, we all buy that, Blizzard.

Fans of Diablo 3 are no strangers to the hype around this game, receiving a less-than-stellar welcome and low player retention due to issues at launch almost 6 years ago, and since recovering and rebuilding a strong and loyal fanbase over several expansions on PC, Xbox and Playstation consoles, and now… potentially the Nintendo Switch? Despite Blizzard stating they have nothing to announce at this time and the rocky history of Diablo 3, the overwhelming response to the tweet seems largely positive. While some gamers are convinced we’ll never see the transition happen – be it the limitations of porting to console in general or the relationship between Blizzard and Nintendo – it cannot be denied that a lot of gamers out there want to see D3 on the Switch, myself included.

Lest we forget, this game has already been ported several times over, and to consoles with harder limitations than the Nintendo Switch, despite it not living up in every hardware department to some of the newer next-gen consoles. Perhaps more importantly, lets not forget our history now folks… this isn’t the first time we’ve heard top-tier MAJOR Blizzard title finding its home on a Nintendo home console, now is it?

Zerg FTW tho, AMIRITE?!?

Personally speaking, I have purchased Diablo 3 on PC, XBOX 360, and XBOX One, I’ve been through the ups and downs since launch day and I still LOVE this game. And I would gladly throw more of my hard-earned money at Nintendo and Blizzard (for the fourth time) to play through this gory grindfest for the umpteenth time. And now, being a Switch owner as well, the concept of having D3 on the go? Sign me up. I’ve always We’ll have to wait and see as more unfolds in upcoming months and keep our eyes peeled for more “we’re-not-that-clever” teasers from Blizzard.

The Unfinished George A. Romero “Living Dead” Novel Set to be Finalized

February 26, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Books, Breaking News

News has just leaked through the pipelines that George A. Romero’s “Living Dead” novel will be completed by the man who co-authored “The Shape of Water” with legendary director and writer Guillermo Del Toro, that man is none other than Daniel Kraus. The book is aptly titled “The Living Dead” and is set for a release in fall of 2019 by Tor. Romero has been working on the book for roughly a full decade. Once Romero had passed his management team had began to search for someone to complete the project.

Kraus is admittedly a HUGE Romero fan and even credits his writing style to Romero. When asked about the project, author Kraus stated: “What’s exciting about the novel, though, is how it goes the opposite direction….It’s huge. It’s a massively scaled story, a real epic, the kind no one ever gave him the budget for in film. In a book, of course, there is no budget, and in his pages you can feel his joy of being able, at last, to do every single thing he wanted.”

The synopsis of the book goes a little something like this:

“On October 24th, John Doe rises from the dead. Assistant Medical Examiner Luis Acocella and his assistant Charlene Rutkowksi are vivisecting him when it happens, and so begins a global nightmare beyond comprehension.”

“Greer Morgan is a teenager living in a trailer park, and when the dead begin their assault, the true natures of her neighbors are revealed. Chuck Chaplin is a pretty-boy cable-news anchor, and the plague brings sudden purpose to his empty life.”

“Karl Nishimura is the helmsman of the U.S.S. Vindicator, a nuclear submarine, and he battles against a complete zombie takeover of his city upon the sea. And meanwhile, a mysterious woman named Etta Hoffmann records the progress of the epidemic from a bunker in D.C., as well as the broken dreams and stubborn hopes of a nation not ready to give up.”

“Spread across three separate time periods and combining Romero’s biting social commentary with Kraus’s gift for the beautiful and grotesque, the book rockets forward as the zombie plague explodes, endures, and finally, in a shocking final act, begins to radically change.”

At the moment there is not a lot of information on the formats for release other than likely digital and definitely physical. We will bring more details of this story as it develops. Let us know what you think about a new Living Dead book hitting shelves in the comments below!

The Blair Witch Is Coming To TV!

February 26, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Television

I guess you can say that this started off being a rumor after one of the directors of 1999’s ‘The Blair Witch Project’, Eduardo Sanchez, threw some hints during an interview last year on the Diminishing Returns podcast.

“Well, you know. I can’t really discuss. I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You’re close. You’re in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know? The more you think about it, you’re like “That might be the perfect… a TV show. You know?” So, we’ll see what happens, but I think that’s the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV.”

Nearly after 2 decades after the original, it is officially confirmed that ‘The Blair Witch Project’ is becoming a TV series and is being developed by Lionsgate apart of their new studio brand, Studio L. With all the other new female-driven television series on air right now, ‘The Blair Witch Project’ is just another one to add to the queue.

Studio L. is also working on some film production partnerships with Buzzfeed and The Onion while creating a TV adaptation of ‘Waiting’, originally starring Anna Faris and Ryan Reynolds.

The series is set to explore the mythology of Elly Kedward, the woman believed to be the witch, who was killed in 1785 for the practicing of witchcraft. Maybe we’ll finally know the truth behind the real Blair Witch.

The Black Scorpion (1957) Gets a Blu-Ray Release in March

February 26, 2018 by Takster
Breaking News, DVD / Blu Ray Release

Warner Bros. Archive Collection is accepting pre-orders for the 1957 Giant Monster Movie The Black Scorpion. The Blu-Ray comes in original widescreen format on a disk that includes the same set of special features included on the 2014 DVD – only this time in a regular blue plastic Amaray case instead of the DVD’s unpopular printed snap case. Archive Collection Blu-Rays are all pressed as well, unlike the DVD versions which were sometimes burned.

The Black Scorpion starring Richard Denning (Creature from the Black Lagoon), Mara Corday (Tarantula!), Carlos Rivas (True Grit) and Mario Navarro (The Magnificent Seven), is the tale of a volcanic earthquake in central Mexico that unleashes the titular creatures – a set of giant bloodthirsty scorpions. Denning and Rivas are investigating the geologic activities when they come across the devastation caused by the monsters. They also come across the female rancher,  Corday, who has fallen from her horse and is in need of assistance. After saving her and meeting a very young boy, Navarro, they inadvertently drive the giant scorpions toward Mexico City. In a final fight at the city’s stadium, the heroes prevail and end the threat, also finding a way to duplicate their toxic poison to stop the creatures in the future.

The film features some honorable work from Academy Award Winning Willis H. O’Brien. When the film features his detailed stop motion work it’s fun to watch, but it’s mixed in with some awful cost-cutting black silhouttes and bad close up models. The Blu-Ray will, however, feature the same four special features from the DVD that detail some of O’Brien’s and Ray Harryhausen’s pioneering stop motion animation work.

Trivia: During the descent into the monster’s cave, The Black Scorpion uses the same stop animation spider model from the missing 1933 King Kong spider pit sequence.

The Blu-Ray ships March 20th and runs 88 minutes.

Breaking News, Video Games

Last year in 2017 we we delivered one of the best modern horror game sequels we could ask for with “The Evil Within 2”. Well, that mode is now available on all formats (Xbox One, PS4 and PC). The update is FREE of charge so no worries about rustling a few dollars up for this one.

Bethesda has commented on the new first person mode with this:

You’ll be able to change this at any point, so you can experience the game however you like. If you haven’t had a chance to check out The Evil Within 2 and want to try it out, you can download the free trial and play through the opening chapters of the game including the new first-person mode. Would You Return to the Sunken Place?

February 15, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

After being nominated for 4 Oscars, including Best Picture, ‘Get Out’ makes it’s way through the internet as a serious topic of interest. Why? Because Jordan Peele has pushed into the future with the questioning of a potential ‘Get Out’ sequel, “Would you return to the Sunken Place“?

As you may know, Peele starred in 2017’s ‘The Emoji Movie’. He said that it was that very movie that made him quit acting, after ending offered the role of Poop. He said that it made him realize that acting isn’t as much fun for him as directing and it helped put him into that chair. During an interview with Variety, Peele confesses that he “would never do a sequel if he didn’t think it was going to be the original”. As for now, the concept of the sequel is unsure yet but Peele says that he has plenty of ideas on how he would like to take this one. Unfortunately for us, he hasn’t released any of those ideas to the public but we’ll definitely be on the lookout. #StayTuned

**And in case you hadn’t heard, Universal Pictures is re-releasing ‘Get Out’ in select AMC Theaters on President’s Day, February 19, for free!!

Tom Savini Bringing New Web Series “Flicker” to Life

February 15, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

With the combination of George A Romero’s film making program and Tom Savini’s special effects makeup program coming together to create a new series being back by Savini himself, you can bet your bottom dollar that “Flicker” will indeed be something to look forward to. The master of modern make up effects is developing a web series titled “Flicker”. So far the roster of directors set to helm episodes are: Robert Tinnel, Tina Romero and Tom Savini as well. Additionally, Robert Tinnel also produces and writes the series too. We are clamoring for a release date but no official date has been set yet.

Savini recently spoke on the project saying:

“Can’t reveal too much, but prepare yourself for magic tricks, violence, revenge, and horror in the style of a silent film”

Jason Baker, an actor for one of the first segments went on to say:

“Imagine Oldboy shot as a silent film starring Lon Chaney Sr. It’s violent AF!!!”

We will continue to follow this series as it develops. I, being a HUGE Savini fan have really high hopes for this one. Check out the teaser trailer below that was just recently released and let us know what your thoughts are on this story down below!

New “Phantasm” Blu Ray Boxset With Angus Scrimm Bust Coming Soon

February 15, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

I am sure many of our readers are aware that the epic “Phantasm” franchise has been released in various versions of different boxsets over the last few years. Especially because of the release of the most recent installment “Phantasm V: Ravager”. However, what you MAY not know, is that a NEW boxset is in the works! This BRAND NEW Phantasm blu ray boxset will be arriving in France with no official release date as of yet. One thing we DO know is that there will be an amazing tribute to the late great lead villain from the films Angus Scrimm.

The tall man is being honored by having a mini bust statue of his upper body lunging out holding the well known metal sphere. Underneath the bust is a bold lettering that reads “Phantasm”. The backdrop of the bust and the casing for which holds the blu rays themselves is made to look like tomb cement, similar to the walls of the morgue in the original Phantasm film.

ESC Distribution will be handling the release of the boxset.

“ESC Distribution has teased that their set will pack a ton of bonus features as well as a new 200-page book written by Marc Toulec. ESC is also reporting that this incredible release will be “limited to 300 certified and numbered copies.” And here we thought Well Go and Arrow’s 10,000 run Blu-ray sets were scant!”

Hopefully more details of this release surface soon and we can deliver a solid release date on this as well as more details on what will be included with the boxset and the features as well! Stay tuned to Horror Headquarters for more updates!

Casting and Scoring Details on the Upcoming “Puppet Master” Film

February 11, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

If you have been following the “Full Moon” world you already know that a NEW “Puppet Master” film is on the horizon. “Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich” is being penned by S. Craig Zahler, The same genius behind “Bone Tomahawk” and “Brawl in Cell Block 99”, two of my more favorite recent genre pieces. However, what you may NOT know is that the legendary maestro of horror scores himself, Fabio Frizzi, will be scoring the new film. Frizzi is well known for his work in MANY Italian horror films of the 80’s and even more modern pieces as well. His sound is a kin to moog and synth compositions of retro feel and sound. I personally am a huge fan of his work and will be looking forward to his contributions to the film.

The films plot goes something like this:

“Puppet Master: The Little Reich centers on a recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Texas celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. All hell breaks loose during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.”

The casting in this film looks to be pretty impressive as well. Perhaps the best casting to date for a Puppet Master release. The cast includes legends like Udo Kier and Barbara Crampton as well as Thomas Lennon, Jenny Pellicer, Nelson Franklin, Charlyne Yi  and Alex Beh. The film is being said to be a REBOOT rather than an actual sequel, time will tell the true intentions of the film. At the moment there is no release date information and a trailer has not yet surfaced. However, we will continue to follow this story as it develops. Are you excited for a new Puppet Master film? Let us know in the comments below!

Chucky’s Getting a TV Show!!

February 10, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News, Television

I don’t know how excited you are but I’m shaking! I am a HUGE fan of ‘Child’s Play’, (if you’ve been paying attention to the show, you would know) and to hear that a TV series is coming, you would believe how happy I am for this.

Don Mancini and David Kirschner is developing this very show. As you know, Tom Holland celebrated ‘Child’s Play’ 30th anniversary, so he is VERY interested. According to Kirschner, they will be using ‘Child’s Play’ in the title. They also plan to take this story deeper and deeper into the dark side. Apparently, it’s supposed to be super creepy. And guess what…. BRAD DOURIF WILL BE VOICING CHUCKY!!! He said that he could never disconnect from his 30 year relationship.

There are no further details but I will be sure to let you know for I will be on this story like a hawk!! I hope you’re ready because I sure am!

Cloverfield 5? Could “Kolma” be The Next Cloververse Film?

February 9, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Well, the plot thickens once again! Just recently we reported information on “Cloverfield 3” aka “God Particle” at the time, which then turned into “Cloverfield Station” than FINALLY released as “The Cloverfield Paradox”. THEN we get word that “Overlord” will be the 4th film in the Cloverfield franchise. NOW we get word that the 5th film in the series may be announced as well? WOWZERS! This is truly a WILD marketing technique that I personally have never seen used but must say it is unique, creative and intriguing to say the least.  The rumor mill is swirling with ideas that the upcoming “Kolma” film being helmed by Bad Robot is perhaps Cloverfield 5 in a disguise. Daisy Ridley is expected to star in the film that is quoted as:

“A cross between a loftier, more mystical version of The Notebook and Albert Brooks‘ 1991 fantasy romance Defending Your Life, the project follows a young couple who get in a car accident that leaves the man dead. 50 years later, the old woman is about to cross over and make the choice whether to reunite with her long-lost love in the hereafter or return to the fateful day her life changed forever.”

As of now all of this is simply speculation and rumor. However, with the rapid succession of these films releasing in the last decade it is MORE than possible that this film is somehow linked as other Bad Robot projects have been as well. Time will tell on this one. We will report any updates as they come in! Are you looking forward to a 5th Cloverfield film? Let us know below!

Don Mancini Shares His Crazy Ideas For a Future Chucky!

February 9, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

After last year’s release of the 7th installment of the ‘Child’s Play’ franchise, director Don Mancini has another idea for Mr. Good Guy. It’s been 29 years and running for this awesome franchise, and according to Mancini, there are definitely more stories to tell and he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Rumor has it that Mancini also has an idea for a ‘Freddy vs. Chucky’ and maybe even a ‘Chucky in Space’.

Mancini’s next idea for Chucky is to send him back to the WWII era. Although he is very excited to do so, most Chucky fans, are not. Reviews and comments on a few articles I read, sa ys things along the lines of “Now that the idea is in the air, it definitely WON’T happen” and “The idea has been done with Puppet Master, and it sucked. Let’s not ruin a great franchise”. But then there were also fans agreeing with the idea, saying that it could be cool going into a different time era other than where we’ve already been done in this franchise.

Brad Dourif will be returning as Chucky, OBVIOUSLY. And there is talk about Fiona Dourif and Jennifer Tilly returning as well. Other than that, there is no further information on casting right now.

On a side note, don’t forget to grab your Good Guy doll on Mezco’s website! Click HERE if you’re interested! They also have Tiffany if you feel the need to grab her as well.

“Voorhees” Fan Film Updates and Kickstarter

February 7, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Indy film maker Cody Faulk will be directing this fan film based off the legendary horror icon Jason Voorhees from the “Friday The 13th” film franchise. This looks to be a promising and fun new take on a fan favorite of the genre. I personally have always been a F13 guy and am looking forward to this release. Upon researching the film I uncovered that the effects in the movie are 100% practical. This is a big sigh of relief to those who may think a F13 film gets butchered with CGI. Thankfully, that is not the case here. If you are a fan of the Savini, Baker, Nicotero, etc. classic visual effect style of the the 1980’s, then this film looks to deliver in that area for certain.

Will this be a darker version of Jason Voorhees? Perhaps even a more visceral take on the iconic character? Who knows, time will tell. However, in the mean time us hardcore F13 fans are clamoring for more. With the potential to deliver something truly unique, I think we can all look forward to a solid release and fun new acquisition to the world of Friday The 13th.

The official film synopsis goes like this:

“Voorhees” takes place at and around the old grounds of Camp Crystal Lake. The individuals who we follow are not summer campers. Far from it They have found their way to this place in the woods for a much darker purpose seeking temporary sanctuary from the world. Unaware of the location’s notorious past, They decide to examine the abandoned camp. They are about to get an education in true terror and learn the name of the most infamous killer in cinema history.”

Along with all the other badass horror movies and shows, like ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Black Mirror’, Netflix will also be releasing their very first Danish production called ‘The Rain’.

Release Date and Trailer For “The First Purge” Have Surfaced

February 7, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Rapidly approaching a release set for July 4th, 2018, “The First Purge” is expected to smash into theaters and delve into the origins of “The Purge” event itself, why it was created and it’s ultimate purpose. For those that follow the franchise will notice that over the series it has progressively gotten more political. With this one being released on July 4th, they are without a doubt making use of those marketing tools. A ploy that frankly, I think is genius. Starring Marisa Tomei, Luna Lauren Velez, Melonie Diaz and Mo McRae. The film is being directed by Gerard McMurray and will be released through Universal Pictures.

The iconic trump red hat is utilized in this controversial film poster that is certain to stir up some chatter, another brilliant marketing move by the team behind this film. If you have followed this franchise than it is likely going to be the same type of brutality laden modern horror I personally enjoy. If you are looking forward to this one let us know below! We would love to know your thoughts on this politically charged horror thriller that is sure to deliver some unexpected turns this coming summer!

Zac Efron Goes Dark In His New Role

February 6, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

So we all, or at least should, know that Zac Efron has starred as High School Musical’s Troy Bolton and Baywatch’s Matt Brody. Well, now he takes his career to the dark side as he becomes the sick and twisted Ted Bundy in the upcoming thriller ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile’,  directed by Joe Berlinger.

Writer, Michael Werwie, wanted to approach this from Elizabeth Kloepfer’s (Bundy’s long-time girlfriend) point of view, during the years Bundy was hiding his crimes from her to the time she finally reported him to the authorities. Kloepfer is to be played by Lily Collins, who starred in ‘The Blind Side’ (2009). John Malcovich is set to play Judge Edward Cowart, the judge who presided over Bundy’s trial and sentenced him to death in 1979.

**Cast also includes Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), Terry Kinney (Law & Order), and Dylan Baker (Trick ‘r Treat).

Insidious / Sinister Potential Crossover Film

February 4, 2018 by Matt Walter
Breaking News

So there has been much talk in the land of filmmaking about a possible crossover or spinoff movie combining two of the more recent and successful franchises. Jason Blum (of Blumhouse Productions) himself said he is on board and they are hard at work trying to figure out how to make this happen. This is not really too far fetched to see happening, let’s just hope they don’t ruin the script or direction.

Let’s break down a few things. I personally love both franchises, but prefer Sinister as the superior of the two. I have yet to see Insidious The Last Key but with the option to do more sequels and prequels, there is always a way. In Sinister, the iconic boogeyman “Mr Boogey” as he’s commonly referred to (real name Baghuul” is an ancient deity who preys on children and is known as and revealed through old text as the eater of children. He is a demonic presence and seemingly unstoppable.

In Insidious – Elise Rainer is a spiritual medium of sorts who can contact spirits and even interact with them physically through astral projection. She is able to send herself into a dark alternate realm known as “The Further” to confront entities or demons themselves to save those in need, be it herself or helpless victims being “haunted” and tormented. She is the best at what she does, and seemingly the best (and maybe only) one in her field who possesses these powers..

How exactly would a cross over work? I wish I could write the script myself because the possibilities are endless. The most common thought would be that Elise somehow stumbles onto Baghuul while venturing into The Further and realizes he is after one of her clients children, or even a loved ones little offspring. That would be the most common and obvious, let’s just hope the script writers are a little more creative, hopefully give Baghuul more of a backstory and if it comes to fruition land a good director with amazing vision. If this crossover ever happens, let’s just hope it’s rated R, has mostly practical effects limiting CGI and doesn’t skimp on key scenarios that would infact benefit from an R rating. Luckily with the success of Deadpool, Logan, and most importantly “IT” they realize they can easily make a boatload of money, while appeasing die hard horror fans without toning down violence and malevolent activity to cater to a younger audience for the sake of making as much money as possible. As more details emerge and develop, we will be here to give you the latest updates! Stay tuned!

‘Don’t Breathe’ Sequel Plans Continue to Move Forward

February 3, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

It was announced back in November of 2016 that a sequel for ‘Don’t Breathe’ was definitely a plan for director Fede Alvarez. This didn’t come as a surprise considering that ‘Don’t Breathe’ raked in $150 million at the worldwide box office on a $10 million budget. As said before back in November, the focus will be on the Blind Man, played by Stephan Lang. Apparently, in the sequel, we will learn how the girl got in the Blind Man’s basement. If you remember from the first film, he kidnapped the girl who accidentally killed his daughter and tied her up in his basement.

Let’s be honest… We’re ALL interested in this. On the other hand, I, along with thousands of other horror heads, wonder how far they’re going to take this story.

Breaking News

The mysterious film with a World War 2 backdrop, “Overlord”, which is currently set for a 2018 release has been officially confirmed as being the 4th film in the “Cloverfield” franchise. This comes just days after we announced that Netflix is in talks to get their hands on the 3rd film in the franchise “God Particle” or “Cloverfield Station” as it has been recently referenced as. Rumor has it we could see a trailer for the 3rd installment during super bowl commercials this year.

The films plot as it stands reads something like this: “On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”

Directed by Julius Avery, the film stars a known cast of solid actors and actresses including: Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell,  Jacob Anderson, Dominic Applewhite, Pilou Asbaek, Iain de Caestecker, John Magaro, Mathilde Ollivier and Bokeem Woodbine.

The current release plan for this installment is to drop on October 26th, 2018, through Paramount Pictures. However, with the 3rd installment happening likely with Netflix it is possible they will try to sink their hooks in for this 4th film as well. Only time will tell. We will deliver more details on this story as it develops.

New “Cloverfield” film could find its way home on Netflix

January 31, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

Not much is known about the upcoming film in the “Cloverfield” series which has now seen two very interesting installments thus far. The title that has previously noted and circulated was “God Particle”. Although there is no solid information if that title will stick or be changed, there has been some other interesting developments indeed. Julius Onah, who does NOT have that much of a track record in this genre it seems. However, I will not count him out so easily. I have seen several films by new comers end up being quite entertaining and quality so time will tell. We have also gotten word that a POSSIBLE title switch could be in the works aptly titling this new installment “Cloverfield Station”.

At the moment the repeatedly pushed back film is set to unleash on fans April 20th, 2018. As for the plot of the feature, we have been given this basic synopsis to hold us over:

“After a scientific experiment aboard the space station involving a particle accelerator has unexpected results, the astronauts find themselves isolated. Following their horrible discovery, the space station crew must fight for survival.”

The film will feature: David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds), and Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids). Some names of note for sure so we will keep bringing you information on this one as it further develops.

Tarantino to take on the Manson murders in his next untitled project

January 24, 2018 by Tara Cunningham
Breaking News

Charles Manson was a notorious criminal and cult leader who died in prison November 9th, 2017. But, his story will live on in award winning director Quentin Tarantino’s next project.

As of now the untitled film is scheduled to premiere August 9, 2019 which is the day after the 50th anniversary of the Sharon Tate and LaBianca murders.

TMZ released an interview earlier today (1/24/18) asking the very talented Michael Madsen (one of my personal favorites) to spill some details about the film but he remained tight-lipped. Right now we do know that Madsen himself along with Leonardo DiCaprio both have starring roles in the film with rumors of Margot Robbie possibly taking on the persona of Sharon Tate herself.

Tarantino made headlines when it was announced he walked away from long-time producers The Weinstein Company setting off an all out bidding war for the script. But it was Sony who landed the deal.

While we have yet to discover who’s taking on the role of Mr. Helter Skelter himself we know DiCaprio’s role is that of  “an aging male TV actor who had a one hit western series and is looking to get into the business of film.”

In 1969, the year the film is set, is at the height of the hippie Hollywood movement and rumor has it this is to be a “Pulp fiction-esque tapestry of Los Angeles during the summer of the Manson murders.”

To quote Manson himself “If you’re going to do something, do it well. And leave something witchy.”

And we all know Tarantino is definitely not one to disappoint. Stay tuned to the website for more details as they are released horror heads.

“MonsterVision” Could be Making A Comeback

January 24, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

This is a tidbit of news that I am THRILLED to be delivering. If you grew up in the early 90’s, then you were lucky enough to be graced with the greatness that is “MonsterVision”. This show was so KICK ASS, the legendary Joe Bob Briggs hosted and gave us his drive in totals for each film along with hilarious commentary, insight and discussion alike as we paced through classic horror films and spent our night with the host and his mail girl Rusty who would present mailed in letters to us (typically from death row inmates). WOW times were a lot better back then. Fast forward to 2018 and discussions on MonsterVision being brought back to life are surfacing!

Now, I personally would love to see good ol’ Joe Bob come back. However, we all know that typically when things are revamped or rebooted the original participants are rarely involved. One can only speculate at this point, but I am willing to bet the interest in this will grow if Joe Bob does indeed come on board. In my opinion he is what truly made MonsterVision a GREAT TV show. I must say, I was turned on to a lot of low budget classic’s because of this show. I for one am counting down the days until it becomes a reality. Hopefully more details on this rumor will come to light but for now we have the glimmering hope for a rebirth of something we cherished and enjoyed in our childhood.

“Friday The 13th Part 3” Documentary Updates

January 20, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

One of my FAVORITE F13 films in the franchise is definitely part 3. Richard Brooker was menacing as he came barreling out the front door of the house toward the lake. The birth of JASON VOORHEES as we all know. The walking embodiment of terror, the masked monster. This was the film that delivered that moment to us. When Jason puts on the hockey mask for the very first time. He leaves behind the burlap sack in favor of something that became much more pivotal and terrifying in the series. The hockey mask is as much of Jason as his mask and legend. However, I digress, if you are a true fan of the franchise you already know this one is a classic. So, it is with great pride that I deliver the details for the upcoming documentary detailing this installment for the F13 franchise.

Directed by: Kevin R. Phipps

Hosted by: Paul Kratka

Appearances by: Tracie Savage, Larry Zerner, Adrienne King, Paul Kratka, Caroline Williams, David Katims, Eileen Dietz, Harry Manfredini, Dick Wieand, CJ Graham, Craig W Chenery and more…

Game [NOT] Over! Jigsaw coming Back?

January 19, 2018 by Naya Banks
Breaking News

If you’re a serious horror fan like you say you are, you would know that John Kramer had his throat slit in Saw III.  Well, after his surprise appearance in 2017’s Jigsaw, I’ve came to the conclusion that John Kramer just doesn’t wanna die!

In other news, Twisted Pictures is planning a ninth SAW! Since Jigsaw did so well, why not let the story continue. Unfortunately, Jigsaw directors Michael and Peter Spierig will not be returning to their director’s chairs.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m really hoping this isn’t just talk… Stayed tuned for more details as the story develops.

“Tales From The Hood” sequel in production!

January 19, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

This one here totally came out of left field! The original director of the first film has recently posted on social media that he was scouting locations for the upcoming sequel. There has been no previous mention of this film and its been well over 20 years since we got the first one. I for one was lucky enough to catch the first film in theaters when it dropped initially. Some have speculated that this may be turned into a remake rather than a sequel. I doubt this highly myself because there is so much more to be done with NEW stories. Either way, time will tell. I can definitely say we will be following this one closely though. One of my favorite anthology films finally getting a sequel!

“Fredheads” documentary in the works!

January 19, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

A documentary based around the fandom of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” film franchise will be slashing its way to DVD and Blu Ray soon enough. If your anything like me, you get SUPER excited when a quality doc comes along. This one is getting a lot of buzz and seems like it may deliver what us horror hounds are looking for. This does not seem to be a doc like Never Sleep Again, which is based around the movies themselves rather then the fandom around it. There seems to be no release date attached as of yet. However, as soon as one becomes available we will certainly share it with you!

“Halloween Returns” brings back some familiar faces

January 17, 2018 by Klive Kraven
Breaking News

The original actor who portrayed the pale faced villain in Halloween is BACK!! Announcements have been made to bring the actor back to reprise his former role of the iconic masked terror, Michael Myers. This information comes in the wake of other big announcements nodding to the original including Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter BOTH coming back to fill their shoes from the original film. With the epic return of Carpenter, Jamie Lee coming back as Laurie and Nick filling those legendary shoes of Mr. Myers. I think it is safe to say this one has all the real fans clamoring for what is to come. One can only speculate the direction this film will go. We do know that carpenter has stated that the film will ignore everything after the events of the original. Will this film live up to the original? Only time will tell. I for one will be waiting patiently until Halloween next year when the movie hits Theaters.
