Part of the burgeoning trend in the 1990s with the vampire genre, Abel Ferrara’s low-budget indie shocker The Addiction was a return to form on Ferrara’s part after helming the big-budget studio project Body Snatchers two years earlier. Returning to the grittiness of his earlier and more prolific work, Arrow Video has a new Blu-ray special edition coming for the U.S., UK and Canada.
Shot in atmospheric black-and-white, THE ADDICTION stars Lily Taylor as a philosophy student who is bitten by a creature of the night (Annabella Sciorra) and develops a hunger for blood. Ferrara’s regular collaborator Nicholas St. John scripted, and Christopher Walken and Edie Falco also star. Arrow’s Blu-ray, streeting June 25/26, will include a new 1080p hi-def restoration from a 4K scan of the original camera negative, approved by director Abel Ferrara and director of photography Ken Kelsch, plus restored 5.1 audio and the following bonus features:
- Audio commentary by Abel Ferrara, moderated by critic and biographer Brad Stevens
