Mike Flanagan is Directing ‘The Shining’ Sequel ‘Doctor Sleep’

If you’re familiar with Mike Flanagan, who directed Hush (2016), Gerald’s Game (2017), and Oculus (2013), and any of his spectacular work, you’ll love what I have to say.

Warner Bros. has started production for Stephen King’s novel ‘Doctor Sleep’ and Mike Flanagan has been hired to rewrite the script originally written by Akiva Goldsman. Flanagan’s producing partner Trevor Macy will produce, along with Vertigo Entertainment’s Jon Berg, and Kevin McCormick will the be overseeing production.

Flanagan and Macy also worked together on the Netflix adaption of Stephen King’s novel ‘Gerald’s Game’ and are also in production on the series ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, also for Netflix.

‘Doctor Sleep’ is based around the Danny Torrance character from ‘The Shining’ carrying the trauma he experienced at the Overlook Hotel as a child into his adulthood.

Warner Bros. will also be handling all distribution and the studio already has the sequel to release in Sept. 2019. Stay tuned for more details to come.
